Evening pronghorn graze
Orange and peach in fading light
Leaping sunset fruit
Living in the desert generated a flood of haiku. About a quarter of them were worth keeping, which is a pretty good average. There’s a program in Texas to reintroduce pronghorn to areas where they’d been extirpated. It was working well where I lived; the habitat is their natural one, and it is largely untouched land. I saw them fairly often, but it never got old.
